Art tries to get a live report from Joy Lynn on how things are going on the French Riviera at the Cannes Film Festival, but forgets the critical part...he forgot to send her! We rant about the stupid and offensive idea by The Discover Credit Card folks on doing a fundraiser to support “public” schools. Isn’t that what taxes are for? And why the prejudice against private schools who could really use the money? Better yet Discover, lower the interest rate on your cards! The movie tie in here is obvious. Go rent the documentary from 2010,  Waiting for Superman.

We both found fun and educational the DVD from 2010, Casino Jack. We are pretty sure most missed this film at the theatre.  It is a great effort by Kevin Spacey starring  in the rise and fall of Washington D.C. high rolling lobbyist Jack Abramoff. Art took a few hours to see the offbeat film, Earthwork (2009) but only recently in wide release) starring John Hawkes. It wasn’t worth it. He suggests viewing Stan Herd’s incredible artwork yourself. Joy Lynn and Art laughed all the way through the SNLesque Bridesmaids, despite the incredibly crass and totally unnecessary gross stuff.  We both solidly endorse Will Ferrell’s latest dramatic (and funny) effort in Everything Must Go—it’s clearly the pick of the week. We play tribute to the passing of Jackie Cooper and the really spooky death of Yvette Vickers this week….as well as to Jennifer Aniston’s dog, Norman. We saluted the neighborhood of Arcadia, Arizona in honor of Everything Must Go and play a funky game of trivia about comedians who excelled in dramatic film roles…and so much more!
